Superior Shea started in September 2017 after the founder traveled to the Upper West region of Ghana with Majeed Bobotiaroh to conduct his master's research on permaculture systems within the shea butter supply chain.
He experienced the tiring work farmers endure on a consistent basis to create this international product. He also learned how the women get "cheated" from local buyers when they purchase shea butter at a low price. He was encouraged to share the product with the world, and to share the stories of the women who produce shea butter.
This experience and knowledge led to the creation of Superior Shea as a social impact business venture. Superior Shea desires to share the shea and connect the African Diaspora through this product. They built a fair and equitable business to improve the livelihoods of all stakeholders involved.
